Children's Dentistry

Are you concerned about your child’s oral health, and confident that you are teaching good, age-appropriate habits at home? Do you want your child to be excited to go to the dentist, and look forward to continuing brushing and flossing at home?

As a parent, of course you want the best for your child. Parents today may have somewhat unpleasant memories of dentistry from their own childhood experiences at other offices. Here, we address those concerns and take specific measures to ensure the comfort of both the parents and children that we treat. Dr. Oppenlander and the hygiene department provide special care and instruction to parents and children of all ages, as children’s dental needs change as quickly as they grow.

Both our office and the American Dental Association recommend that dental visits begin between the ages of six months and one year, but no later than the child’s first birthday. Our office is pleased to offer special techniques to make your child’s dental experience positive, educational, and fun. This will in turn reinforce the oral health habits you are teaching at home, as well as make dental visits more comfortable as your child grows. Also, preventive dental care, such as fluoride treatments and dental sealants (a barrier that protects the chewing surfaces of the back teeth) can save time, money, and teeth.

“I always thought I had an ugly smile, took terrible photos, and basically never smiled. Then Dr. Oppenlander gave me a beautiful new smile and it changed my life. Really. Now, I literally smile all the time and am constantly complimented on how beautiful my smile and teeth are.”
