Onlays/Inlays

Before
After

A composite or porcelain onlay may be placed on a tooth to replace decay and areas of lost tooth structure. The decay is removed and the laboratory-customized onlay is placed to support the tooth's structure and sound enamel. The onlay will protect the tooth while maintaining a natural looking and functional biting surface.

In some cases, a simple filling may not adequately restore or protect a tooth that has been decayed, weakened, or fractured. Dr. Oppenlander is able to treat these teeth with an onlay, which is more conservative than trimming the entire tooth back and placing a crown. Dr. Oppenlander can create a final result that is quite strong, bonded to place, and looks just like a natural tooth.

“I always thought I had an ugly smile, took terrible photos, and basically never smiled. Then Dr. Oppenlander gave me a beautiful new smile and it changed my life. Really. Now, I literally smile all the time and am constantly complimented on how beautiful my smile and teeth are.”
